Arman Roy's dream was to reduce the great digital divide in terms of education and access available to children in challenging socioeconomic environments.

The snow and precarious road conditions on the evening of Saturday, January 18th did not deter over 250 supporters of the Arman N. Roy Foundation from coming out to “Spark Hope” at the charity’s inaugural Hope Gala. In fact, once guests escaped the frigid temperatures and entered through the front doors of Primavera Regency, an immediate sense of warmth and love was tangible by all. So much so that Jim White, Executive Director of Covenant House in Newark, NJ, referred to the enthusiasm, energy, excitement and commitment in the room as unexplainable in any other way except “crazy love.”

Crazy love can also be used to describe the way Arman’s parents, Priya and Manisha Roy, feel about their son. They poignantly expressed that Arman was kind, compassionate, curious, adventurous, courageous, and truly gifted in technology. Always mindful of how fortunate he was to have access to the latest technology, Arman’s dream was to reduce the great digital divide in terms of education and access available to children in challenging socioeconomic environments. “Arman’s name means hope in Hindi and he truly stood for everything hopeful and beautiful in this world,” shared Manisha. He unexpectedly and tragically passed away on April 9, 2019 and in less than one year, his devoted family created a foundation to channel their pain into purpose and to honor Arman’s legacy. The foundation’s mission is to uplift and build positive future for their community’s most vulnerable youth facing poverty, homelessness, abuse, and human trafficking through technology.
