Background- Youth Program Locator Virtual STEM Internship Extension
With the support of the Arman Roy Foundation, in the summer of 2023 UWGN hired three Newark High
School youth as interns to help re-imagine, re-build and re-brand our Youth Program Locator navigation
tool. The interns spent nine weeks over the summer meeting with network database managers and senior leadership to operationalize the YPL. The interns were included in many activities that ranged from reaching out to existing program teams in the YPL, engaging new partners that wanted their programs added to the youth program locator, attending a weekly meeting with UWGN’s website development team, revamping prior website look and feel, discussing user access and experience with senior leadership, and developing social media plans and templates for YPL updates. At the conclusion of their summer hours, there was still work to be done to promote and maintain the YPL.
